My Makeover List

In evaluating the areas of my life that I wanted to make changes to, I tried to view it holistically – that is, my whole life. Body, mind, soul and enviroment.

This is the list that I have come up with:

1. Stop smoking

2. Eat very healthy – DO NOT DIET

3. Reduce caffeine intake and drink more herbal teas

4. Take up an exercise programme and make it to every class!

5. Take up an educational course which I will actually enjoy or am interested in

6. Get involved with a local charity

7. Find Work/Life balance

8. Expand my awareness of the world around me

9. Find a hobby

10. Spend more “quality” time with family and friends

We all have areas of our lives that we know we should change but find it difficult to make the first move or we just don’t know where to start. The task feels mamoth so instead we continue with the habit/behaviour etc.  In my case, I wake up in the morning and light a cigarette, sitting on a mostly cold balcony as the birds are singing puffing my brains out I say ” I really am killing myself, I have to give up, I don’t even like smoking ughh”.  This thought came into my head every time I lit a cigarette for 15 years, yet I never did anything about it.  I always questioned my willpower but I guess I just loved smoking too much (or in reality the addiction made me believe that I loved smoking too much).

Obviously, for this makeover to work for me giving up smoking has to be on the top of the list!

At day one I do believe that this will be the most difficult change through this 12 week journey. I will try not to allow it to take over the blog but please let me know if it is!

The first four on this list are obviously health related but I believe will also have a positive affect on my mind and my outlook on life as well as my confidence and hopefully have a positive affect on my family also.

The remainder are things that I believe will help me to grow mentally with awareness. Things I have always wanted to do but put on the long finger.

No More Maybe Tomorrows!
